It is 8 hours before my 24-hour trip back home... not certain if for good, or have to come back to Bergen... Well, after extensive email communication and meetings with directors, administrators, supervisors, coordinators, I didn't figure out if I was allowed to leave for good, or have to come back at some point. On the other hand, they think it was ruled in my favour... I have two conclusion from my experience: 1. bad communication is bad communication anywhere...only here wrapped with polite words... and 2nd: Macedonia is Europe as much as Norway :P and they bought it!
Oh well...now that I am coming home (at least for Easter)... I'm allowed to talk about what I'm looking for, aren't I???? Well... starting from the people there: all my friends and sister :))))) sunshine in itself.. really can't describe in simple blog words how I feel about meeting them...
The sunshine... the spring sunshine and flowers and green everywhere... and I'll be wearing sunglasses and take long walks after having long coffees at cozy coffee shops (cafes...seriously I even changes my most appreciated term for place where you drink coffee to coffee shop, which is not a coffee shop in Amsterdam meaning of the term, but having take away coffee and drinking it while running late for class or trying to get any coffee in the middle of London City at 5pm ...so am happy to get the true meaning of drinking coffee in its natural state...in cafes... real bistro-like French-long drinking coffee, but in Italian quality and taste!)
After the coffee comes lunch plans... local restaurant (AKA birtija) with great food (or not so great food , but convenient location and status of regulars - you can recognize Bios there! or Bure, staro, Novo ili Sopotsko). Though the status of regulars never meant special treatment... usually lousy service and bad food (bad sometimes means spoiled). Bad wine, bad meat and great chat i.e. great laugh...mhmhmhmhmh and great photos afterwards... I was trying to find decent photo from Macedonia where we are not seated in restaurant, cafe or similar to up-load...no success.. and after lunch... Mille Feuille (krempita), eclair, tarts or ice-cream... mhmhmhmh the potential contamination with Salmonella make them even yummier ;))))
And my car... my green Apple! oh...I just want to drive that little cute unwashed apple-like car with 5 people inside...hardly moving on slightly hilly road in 2nd gear, but still moving... Going to day trips anywhere, getting lost very often (my lack of orientation to blame;() Everything (lake, mountain, village, monastery, river, fish restaurant, grill restaurant, pie restaurant anywhere throughout MKD...) at max 3 hours drive ;)
The bike (i.e.bicycle)..(though technically not mine...) and crazy rides to the city center (with no life guarantee) and no guarantee that you are going to find the bike on your way back :) ...
then... Skopje grey, rough architecture .. do I really miss it?!?! surprisingly yes... and busy Saturdays... and coffee in Debar-maalo (AKA Soho) and shopping at GTC (though shopping means Mango and unsuccessful roaming in the malls the rest of the time)... and the apartment of 5000 denars/month in Kisela Voda ;) its "cleanliness" and darkness, the terrace larger then the apartment, ohhhh morning coffee on the terrace, the sunshine and the cacti and the busy boulevard 11.Oktomvri... tons of dust from the street everywhere....
Zeleno pazarche in spring... on the way back home from work or on Sunday morning ... 6 green salads, 2-3 kg tomatoes, green peppers, onions, strawberries and cherries, kilo olives... until my hands fall off from the weight... and WHY??? buying food like there is no tomorrow? and take away grilled fish on the way back...
My mom's cooking and my dad's talking :))))) I really truly crave for my mom's food: sarma (wine leaf or sour cabbage), all sorts of roasted meat (lamb, pork, beef), huge salads, spinach zelnik, turlitava, musaka ...
it's enough for now.. I think I will add really soon more....
